MetaLab presentations at SFN
Several of the lab will be presenting our latest stuff at SFN in Washington D.C. Congratulations to Dan Bang whose abstract was selected for a nanosynmposium presentation!

Marion Rouault and Dan Bang will be presenting their recent work at the Symposium on Biology of Decision-Making in Bordeaux, May 14th-16th.
We have published a paper in Neuroscience of Consciousness on our new toolbox for estimating metacognitive efficiency (how well confidence ratings track performance) using hierarchical Bayes. The toolbox is available for download here. The main result is that we can obtain robust estimates of meta-d' with small numbers of trials, which may be useful for future studies in clinical settings.
A new paper in collaboration with NYU colleagues Elyse Norton, Nathaniel Daw and Mike Landy, "Suboptimal criterion learning in static and dynamic environments" has been published in PLoS Computational Biology
Max Rollwage has joined the MetaLab as a PhD student (co-supervised with Ray Dolan). Max is part of the new 4-year PhD programme in Computational Psychiatry at UCL. We also welcome new Masters students - Steven Chau and Shaima Alsuwaidi.
Steve has won the Wiley Prize for Psychology from the British Academy, for his contribution to the study of the neuropsychology of human metacognition. Read more here
Tricia Seow has accepted a PhD position at Claire Gillan's new lab at Trinity College Dublin. We will miss her and wish her all the best in her studies!
A new paper in collaboration with Benedetto De Martino's group, "Explicit representation of confidence informs future value-based decisions" has been accepted in Nature Human Behaviour.
Our paper "Metacognition about the past and future: Quantifying common and distinct influences on prospective and retrospective judgments of self-performance" by Fleming SM, Massoni S, Gajdos T & Vergnaud J-C is in press at Neuroscience of Consciousness.
A new paper "Self-evaluation of decision-making: A general Bayesian framework for metacognitive computation" by Steve and Nathaniel Daw has been accepted in Psychological Review. A preprint is available here.
